Cameron Alexander Robb passed away at 5:55pm Saturday evening, July 30 2005 after an l8 year battle with a brain tumor. Cameron was a fighter, incredibly strong, and bore the burden of the cancer far longer than anyone should have to.

Cameron was involved in many activities and groups – his career at Sun Microsystems, a member of All Saints Church in Pasadena and Palo Alto, the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus, the livejournal.com community, Bay Area bear groups, and square dancing with the El Camino Reelers. Cameron was in particular excited and proud of his involvement with the 2005 IAGSDC convention “Star Thru the Silicon Galaxy”. Not only was he an active member of the convention planning committee, this was also his 10th convention, and this year he received his 10 year medallion. He looked forward to that moment so much.

He is survived by so many people who love him – his partner Scott, his sisters Mary Beth and Alison, and so many friends and family. He is being missed and will always be missed.

Please remember him fondly in your hearts, think of him in your prayers. He is finally free of the burden of the cancer now, and at peace.

A memorial service is being planned. The specific date, time, and place will be announced in a future email message.

In two weeks plus one day will be the start of 22nd annual International Gay and Lesbian square dance convention in Santa Clara Ca.

[info]excessor and I have been on the organizing committee for years so to have it be this close is both thrilling and scary at the same time. The final i are being dotted as well as checking that all the t's are crossed and hoping that everything is covered.

We will be hosting dancers from 8 nations for four days. Providing dancing to the finest callers. Providing entertainment such as country western dancing (provided by Sundance Saloon) and [info]keanubear's band, and just having fun.

It will be fun seeing friends from near and far again. This will be my 10th convention.

There is a lot of work that has gone into the planning. But also the reward of throwing a party for over 1000 of your best friends.

Between now and July 5, I have some engagement everyday. Sometimes it's a meal with friends, dances, pride, concerts or convention related things.

Scott and I thinking about taking a trip after convention. Proposed destinations include Portland, Seattle or Vancouver. Someplace on the cool side of the country.

it was a very slow relaxing last few days. [info]nanocub has a bad cold so we couldn't collect the dinner at [info]sapphiresf's that I won at the Foggy city auction or go to San Jose pride. I did get the pleasure of nursing my husband.

Dinner is rescheduled and there is SF pride coming up.

Our garden is really going great guns this year. For the past few weeks, we've been harvesting strawberries. Yesterday, Scott harvested the first of the tomatoes.

From the size of the tomato plants this year, we will be harvesting quite a number of tomatoes. There is nothing like the taste of a homegrown tomato!

I got up this am to find the shower dripping faster than Niagara falls. So we call the plumber. I go out to lunch with a friend and return to find no plumber.

So I lie down to take a nap and when I get up the plumbers been here and gone and the cub didn't wake me. HMMMMMMMMM

Scott told me I didn't miss much. At least I should've been awoken for a view of the crack shouldn't I?

Thump, thump, crack was what we woke up to this morning at 7 am. A nearby neighbor had brought in some day laborers to break up his concrete patio with sledge hammers.

Unrelated to that was the power went out in the city. No coffee and a grumpy cub does not a happy bear make especially when he is having a nice dream about someone's buns.

I groused and grumbled then put my noise canceling headphones over my cpap mask and managed to get some more sleep.

The cub was not so happy (The number one rule in our house is do not wake the cub , at least without food in hand).

They've just now finished pouring the last of the cement for his new patio. At least it was done in one day but I think he is going to get a talking to by the homeowners association.

This last week has been a week to regroup and see where I am. I've been retreating into my CD library and listened to things I haven't listened to in years.

In fact I've been waking up to snippets of 70's music that I don't really have but a slim memory of. Songs like Yellow River, Rose Garden & Help Me Make it through the night.. What's up with that? These are song from the early 70's (in my infancy)

Scott and I slept the whole weekend away except for dinner with friends on Saturday Night. It was so nice.

Scott's planning to go away up to Wildwood for a retreat this weekend if as he puts it "I can find a bearsitter" Hrmph.

I'd love to thank the anonymous person who bought me a book off my Amazon wish list. It was a big surprise to see the box sitting there. I racked my brain to see if I had ordered anything and came up empty.

The cub stopped and brought home dinner so I didn't have to cook. I'll have to think of a proper way to thank him.

Today was a rare down day for me. I went out and did my what I needed to do but it was without the normal chipper me. This is so unlike me.

There are many things that are hitting me now, I wonder if that is contributing. This crazy weather isn't helping any either.

I look out after the July 4th weekend and see emptiness and boredom if I'm not able to visit friends in the city or in Morgan Hill.

Hopefully the bluebird of happiness took a day off and I'll be fine tomorrow. There's only one way to tell.

While the rest of the world geeks out over Tiger, anyone who uses a Cisco VPN (which includes some of the biggest names in the valley) to dial into work has to wait on Apple and Cisco to finish updating the VPN.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Of course by then the first update for tiger may be done to solve the last minute bugs.

The one thing I'm not looking forward to is all the software updates from other vendors to take advantage of the new Operating System.

yr The roses have been out for awhile, although in some yards they are just beginning to bloom.

Yellow roses are my favorite of them all. They have always captured my imagination, I'm not sure why. Although, silver roses may be a close second to be my favorite.

My favorite flower though I think are freesias mainly for their fragrance. Hmm the most fragrant ones tend to be yellow. Do I detect a pattern?

On another note, I seem to be attempting to develop the fine art of napping. I say attempting because those are the days when I get a call from the cub just after I have fallen asleep. He just is calling to tell me he loves me. Today, I actually did get a nap in late in the day. I must have fooled the cub.

fushias

Ballerinas of Spring

Dancing ladies is what my grandmother called fuchsias. My grandparents had a couple of large fushia bushes at there house in what is now south central Los Angeles.
With red tutus, white skirts and pink upper bodies, I can see why.

Later, after my breakup with L. and had moved back to Orange County, I took up the cultivation of fuchsias with a passion. At one point, I had 30 different varieties in all colors of the rainbow.

A friend and I would drive up to the Ventura / Santa Barbara area, one of the big fushia growing areas of the nation about every other month to buy plants.

Gardening has always been a big passion in my family. I've been in and out of the passion depending on where I lived and how much time I wanted to devote to it.

Currently, the cub is the driving force behind our garden. However, I'm starting to feel the urge to do more of the gardening or green our place up with houseplants.

It must be because shorts and t-shirt weather has finally arrived or Spring is in the air.

I've been in a curious mood the last couple of days. The result has been mass quantities of chocolate. Now usually I'm so so about chocolate while the cub is the chocoholic in the family.

To illustrate, I once got a pound of chocolates for Valentines day. In June my roommate asked me when I was going to open it for her to eat.

Not the last few days, however. I directed the cub to go to Coldstone Creamery yesterday for a hot fudge sundae with extra fudge. Then tonight I made chocolate chip cookies. I'm thinking about making fudge tomorrow. I hope it lasts through the weekend.

I wonder what planet is out of whack to cause chocolate cravings.
